![]() Right now the enemies just start chasing you if you come within a certain number of tiles of them. That video shows off some of what I have done so far: Basic enemies, basic weapons and weapon/ammo drops, procedurally generated dungeons and a basic minimap. Here's a short video showing my progress so far. So the inherited money (after a substantial death tax is applied) will be used to purchase permanent unlocks which will affect future playthroughs, and inherited weapons/armor can be selected as starting items for future playthroughs. I'm still tossing around ideas for how it will work, but I am thinking it will be somewhere along the lines of passing a selection of armor/weapons from your playthrough and a portion of your acquired wealth onto the next character to run through the dungeon (probably an heir, but the story doesn't really matter at this point). The player will explore procedurally generated dungeons killing randomized enemies and collecting randomized weapons and armor.ĭeath will be permanent, but there will be some kind of meta-progression. Unless you're going super deep into story and even then it can be done.Įventually using a modern game engine like Unreal Engine would help you to overcome some of the difficulties. This game will be a rogue-lite dungeon crawler. ![]() So despite what that article on gamasutra says I'd always recommend to include multiplayer. Sadly there is just SO many games with great gameplay out there right now that very often the main reason for me to buy new ones if if they have co-op or multiplayer with bot support. Seeing that there is tons of multiplayer games using the almost the same concept that Castle Battles uses (Galcon series, Conflicks, Rapture - World Conquest, Planets under Attack, etc.) I was unaware that it's so difficult to add multiplayer. All I can say is that without it it would be a worthless game to me and anyone I know who touched it or played it.Īlso I know of 5 certain sales just by my recommendation to friends and probably even multiplied since you need to buy a second copy whenever you're not using local co-op. I didn't know it was even a question for them if it get's added or not. ibb & obb is one of the absolute best co-op games I've played and so compatible with all sorts of players. The article you mentioned is actually kinda funny in that regard. That said many games just wont make sense or sell if multiplayer gameplay is injected into a singleplayer husk. In fact it only requires one other person. I disagree though that multiplayer requires a large playerbase. I can understand parts of your perspective. ![]() ![]() If you do not like what you see, then it is your right to not purchase our independent game.Ĭleveland T. If you like what you see, then you are welcome to purchase the game and tell your friends as we continue to grow our studio and community. Castle Battles is a full title that delivers finished, single-player content. You are welcome to read our store page for a complete description of the content in the game. To better show our perspective, here is an article that dives into the complexities of online multiplayer in indie games: We only engage in speculation with the community. This is why we have never promised online multiplayer. We want to, but we are well aware of our limitations. Whether in early or current development our team has not been large enough to take on the massive task at this time. Multiplayer requires a large player base to justify allocating the many required resources. It's smart to remain cautious and informed when looking at games. Games companies are known to make false promises to consumers. Sorry to say this buy your product will be sold by what it delivers and offers right on the store page. ![]() It's not even sold as an early access game and we all know how great early access works for the customers who buy early - in the vast majority of games it does not! We don't see your sales figures, we don't know how much you want / need to even start adding it. I will gladly skip supporting with sales in this case and so will others. It's much more complex to add it now, prone to adding bugs and it's way more costly as well. How could you ever even start out a game like this without multiplayer? It's essential and would've gotten you the additional sold copies easily! So please tell your friends if you like what you see! Small companies like us have to shout to be heard.Ĭleveland T. If we were to do it, it would be funded by sales from Castle Battles. We REALLY want to do multiplayer, but Light Arc is a very small company and our rescources are currently limited. Αναρτήθηκε αρχικά από 1ronprism:In fact, we have discussed the possibility of a multiplayer version of Castle Battles! It is something we often heard requested from our beta testers and from general feedback on the game. ![]()
